Songboard

At Gilt Edge Plastics Limited we are always excited to receive new innovative projects, so when we were approached by a design company to injection mould plastic spheres for their Songboard project naturally we were delighted to help. With our expertise in plastic injection moulding and with 24 hr production, we were able to work alongside our experienced toolmaker to produce the spheres in a limited timeframe in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Songboard was produced as a temporary attraction for the City of London during the Olympic and Paralympic Games and is based at Kings Cross Station from 24th July – 9th September and then at the D & AD Awards on 18th September 2012. Songboard is a multi-sensory interactive installation measuring 35 metres long, containing a dot matrix of thousands of yellow and black plastic injection moulded spheres which, when turned, enable users to create their own patterns, signs, messages and sounds that form recognisable melodies. For weeks now Songboard has been providing a visually captivating and entertaining feature for passers by at Kings Cross. Members of the public have been fascinated by Songboard and Gilt Edge Plastics have been proud to be part of its production. Images can be seen at http://www.songboardlondon.com/images.html
